Unlocking Asian Leadership Potential
-or- 4 Common Challenges Limiting Asian Leadership
In this 1 hour talk, Paraag shares relevant data on Asian professional achievement within the US workplace. Paraag will share four common factors limiting advancement for Asians and include an examination into the cultural differences that drive those factors. Finally, he will discuss a path forward for Asians to develop the cultural agility needed to achieve greater professional success, including recommendations on how to approach this challenge as an organization and as individuals.
Reframing the Asian Success Model
Many 1st and 2nd generation Asian immigrants have been raised with a high standard of achievement, rooted more in familial expectations rather than from personal expectations. In this talk, we'll explore the roots of these expectations along with a path forward for greater personal and professional success.
Giving credit where due, this talk pulls wisdom nuggets from several recent books published by Asian authors, in particular, Amy Yip's Unfinished Business and Stacey Litam's Patterns That Remain.
Note: this content is easily adapted to a broader audience as there are many consistent themes across immigrant communities and others coming from a survival mindset.
Wait... that's it?
Yeah, kinda.
I have other topics that I can do as needed and I can certainly customize a talk if you have something in particular in mind. In general, my higher goal is to connect organizations with one or more trainers who can fulfill your needs for both the short and long term. I have a deep desire to do what I can to support the overall ecosystem of Asian leadership training.
